Northern Ireland: Co Antrim arrest following discovery of improvised explosive device

A 36 year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Co Antrim in which an explosive device was made safe by specialist army officers.

Police have confirmed the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device with intent to endanger property, attempted arson endangering life and criminal damage.

The arrest follows the discovery of an explosive device in Broughshane at 10.05pm last night after police received a report of an attempt to set a car in the Woodland Park area on fire.

The man remains in custody.
