A passenger jet came within just 32ft of hitting a drone ‘almost head-on’ as it came into land at Manchester Airport.

A pilot described the incident near as a ‘close encounter’, a UK Airprox Board (UKAB) report revealed.

The rectangular drone was flown in front of an Airbus A319 aircraft approaching the airport at 3,000 feet on Thursday.

Measuring up to one metre long, the drone was being propelled by four rotors.
