Armed police in London have carried out a major anti-terror exercise on the Thames, aimed at countering the threat of an attack on the thousands of people who regularly use the river.
More than 200 police officers were joined by personnel from other agencies, including the London Ambulance Service, London Fire Brigade and the RNLI.
The exercise scenario dealt with the hijacking of a river cruise boat, with dozens of hostages on board.
It was arguably the most challenging exercise UK armed police have been involved in, as they boarded a vessel in the middle of the country’s busiest river.
